This will be a trip to visit K3NAH

I will be down in Santa Barbra on Tuesday the 11th and staying a few days there.
Then we will be driving up highway 1 to see a place called Hearst Castle https://hearstcastle.org/
After that we will continue up the road towards Scotts Valley where we will either stay with Kenah or find lodging. I might want a hot tub  ;D

After the walk we will work our way up to San Jose to drop off the car and catch a plane home.

I think this would be a good hike for us to do.

Cowell Highlights Loop
Trailhead: visitor center; 5.9 miles, elevation change 420 feet.

Like Henry Cowell Redwoods State Park, this hike has everything: redwoods, views, and water. From the visitor center, head up through the redwoods along Pipeline Road to the Eagle Creek Trail. Near the campground, turn right on the Pine Trail. In less than a mile you’ll reach the Observation Deck at 805 feet, the highest point in the park. From there head down the Ridge Fire Road to great views of downtown Santa Cruz and Monterey Bay from the Overlook Bench on Pipeline Road. As you loop back, you can swing by Cathedral Redwoods (on the Big Rock Hole Trail) and Cable Car Beach (on the River Trail). On a warm day, that’s a good place to finish with an afternoon swim.

Fly to San Jose, then rent a car and drive 30 miles or so south to Scott's Valley.  We'll get to Scott's Valley late Friday night and will be there until Monday when we fly home.

Part 1

Was super happy I could fit the BuddiPole and Elk's log periotic  in the checked bag with enough room for clothes

The carry-on held the 705, 3 HT's, 6ah battery and other things

My first time on a flight

We made it to Santa Barbara

Laura and the team members that came down. I caught Robin off guard

I tried to get Laura to jump in the chair but she was wearing nice clothes

They put light up cubes in our drinks. So I kept them.

This was the ad on the elevator

I signed just the tip  ;)

If you're cold it's cold, So bring it in ( it was setup for 10 meters and didn't want to hassle to re-set it up. )

The famous Elk's Log Periodic ( I need to contact the owner to see how far away from the tripod I should have it. In this config the SWR was flat everywhere I took it.

Part 3

We make it to Scotts Valley and found K3NAH

The director for the start, but not the start for the loop

This Tree was massive

it's so weird how things can grow in the wild

The trail head

I don't know why it skewed Laura like that, but I find it funny.

I didn't go inside but the center of the tree was gone allowing people to stand up inside.

Laura loves hugs

Playing radio from the Overlook Bench

Early diner after the walk
