The Plan is to meet at https://www.google.com/maps/place/Heather+Lake+Trail/@48.0806699,-121.7853592,2538m/data=!3m1!1e3!4m5!3m4!1s0x549ab59737b7c603:0xccedd882fc632c64!8m2!3d48.0828422!4d-121.773847 at 9am
Then decide on weather conditions if we go to the top or do one of the lover walks
don't forget to bring all the passes, im reading mixed reviews on what one is needed
I know I'm going to fail but will you ;D
https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/washington/mount-pilchuck-trail
All reviews of the road leading up to the trail say you need a vehicle with ground clearance.
So Car Pooling is going to be a must. Laura said maybe we can stage someplace close?
This walk is going to kick my ass, but it is totally going to be worth it.

Road photo from https://www.arcgis.com/apps/MapSeries/index.html?appid=2f5351d70b0d4ed9b13d372e9d109fcb
Looks like its about 2000ft on the vehicle, and about 2000ft on foot to the top of 5299ft
Very challenging indeed

I never realized Heather lake and Lake 22 where next door to it.
They might be a spring walk.

Since the last part of the road to the trailhead is not so good for cars, we could carpool part or all of the way. It looks like the last Park & Ride location from here to there is 101 E Pioneer St in Granite Falls; this is still 45 minutes from the trailhead. We could also just carpool the whole way. We'll have the Suburban, so we can fit 6 pretty comfortably. Ryan and I should leave our house between 7am and 7:30.

The day is open, but I am not sure my knees can handle this hike... on a scale of 1-10 where 1 is walking up the street, what rating is this one (including difficulty to get to trailhead)...

I think I read it's about a 25 on your scale. but the pain is going to be worth the view. if the clouds don't hang around.
I'll be stopping a lot if my body is still acting they way it did Saturday. I literally was laying on the side of the trail. :-X

Posting this link here so I can grab it later. I plan to drive and park at the Heather Lake trailhead, and will need a lift the rest of the way. Cheers

That's a lot closer then the P&R Laura found.
Should we make that the 10am meeting spot?

I think we should meet at 9am not 10am as Ron suggested.

According to Washington Trails Association, a Northwest Forest Pass is required for parking/entry. This applies to Heather Lake as well as Mount Pilchuck. Here is a url to the different types of passes required at various locations.
https://www.wta.org/go-outside/passes/passes-and-permit-info
And below is an excerpt about the Northwest Forest Pass. You can purchase a day pass for $5, and you can even print an ePass within two days of your park visit. Or if you prefer an annual pass, the cost is $30.
U.S. FOREST SERVICE LANDS
All National Forest trailheads in Washington and Oregon with facilities (toilet, picnic table, etc.) charge a user fee. This includes most trailheads in the Cascades and Olympics. A list of those sites is here. And you can use the USFS database to find a shop in your town that sells these.Northwest Forest Pass
** National Forest Recreation Day Pass and ePass: $5/car. Allows you to park at trailheads for one day. You can purchase several day passes ahead of time and write the dates on them as you use them. The pass is available at National Forest offices and visitor centers, via private vendors or online. You can also buy the day pass (called an ePass) online and print it at home. Note that WTA and some other vendors listed do not carry day passes.
** Northwest Forest Pass: $30. An annual pass honored at all Forest Service day-use or entrance fee sites in Washington and Oregon. The pass is available at National Forest offices and visitor centers and via private vendors or online.
** America the Beautiful Interagency Annual Pass: $80. This pass provides entrance to all Forest Service, national park and other federal site charging fees for one year. Purchase at a National Forest office or online - details are here.

Sounds like a good meeting spot. I'm planning to be there around 9, regardless of the meeting time. Have some breakfast and hang out in my van.
We need frequencies to meet on. I think HJR will not be reachable from that side of the mountain?

Due to higher BP 165/91 (but is that really high?)
I was at my desk getting ready to come up stairs and my vision was getting blurry.
I don't think Laura wants to bring back in a body bag ::)
RyRy
